Fun ESL spelling classroom game

Try this engaging “Spelling bee race” game to get students thinking about spelling patterns and teamwork.

Divide the class into two teams. Each team forms a line. The teacher calls out a word (appropriate to the students’ level). The first student from each team runs to the board and writes the first letter of the word, then runs back and tags the next teammate. The next student writes the next letter, and so on until the word is complete. If the spelling is correct, the first team to complete the word wins a point.
