Fun ESL early writing classroom activity

Try this “Copy the words” activity to strengthen early writing motor skills and word awareness.

Give each student a blank sheet of paper and a set of [hide_on_uk]colored[/hide_on_uk][hide_on_us]coloured[/hide_on_us] crayons or markers. Call out a simple early word (e.g., cat, dog, sun, hat) and students draw a picture of the word. Then write the word on the board and students copy the word carefully under their drawing. Do each class to review previous words you have studied.
