Fun ESL winter classroom activity

Try this winter picture chat to get students using winter vocabulary and simple sentences.

Give students a set of winter-related pictures or prompt cards (e.g., snowman, scarf, hot chocolate, mittens, skiing, winter hat). Put students in pairs or small groups. One student picks a card and makes a sentence, such as “I build a snowman in winter” or “I drink hot chocolate when it’s cold”. The partner then asks a follow-up question like “Who do you build it with?” or “Where do you drink hot chocolate?”. After several turns, swap roles so everyone gets speaking practice.
