Fun ESL summer classroom activity

Try this summer memory and speaking game to get students using summer vocabulary.

Give students a set of summer-related pictures or prompt cards (e.g., beach, ice cream, swimming, sunhat, picnic, sunglasses). In pairs or small groups, one student picks a card and describes a memory or sentence like “I go to the beach in summer” or “I eat ice cream when it’s hot”. Partners then ask a follow-up questions like “Where do you go to swim?” or “What’s your [hide_on_uk]favorite[/hide_on_uk][hide_on_us]favourite[/hide_on_us] ice-cream [hide_on_uk]flavor[/hide_on_uk][hide_on_us]flavour[/hide_on_us]?” After several turns, switch roles so everyone gets to ask and answer.
