Fun ESL toys classroom activity

Try this simple “Pass the toy” game to help young learners say toy words.

Have students sit in a circle. Place a few toys or flashcards of toys in the middle of the circle (for example a ball, car, doll, teddy). Play some music or clap a steady rhythm while students pass one toy around the circle. Suddenly stop the music or clapping – the student holding the toy holds it up and says the word: “Ball! and the class repeats together: “Ball!”. Then give one simple instruction: “Roll the ball.” / “Hug the teddy.” / “Drive the car.”, etc. Repeat with different toys so everyone has a turn.
