Fun ESL future plans activity

Try this simple “Class Plans Survey” to get students speaking naturally about future plans using going to.

Put students into pairs and give them 2–3 minutes to ask each other about their future plans using going to, for example:
“What are you going to do this weekend?”, “Where are you going to go on your next holiday?”, “What sport are you going to try this year?”

After interviewing, each student introduces their partner to the class using going to sentences:
“Maria is going to visit her grandparents.”, “She’s going to bake a cake on Sunday.”

Finish with a quick whole-class round in which students stand up if a statement matches their plan:
“Stand up if you’re going to play a sport this weekend!”
