Fun ESL action verbs activity
Get your students moving and speaking with this lively action-verb activity.
Choose 8–12 action verbs from the worksheets (e.g., jump, clap, swim, dance). Write each verb on a strip of paper and put them in a hat or container. Students take turns taking a strip of paper and performing the action silently while classmates guess: “Is it climb? Is it dance?” When they guess correctly, the performer says: “Yes — it’s dance!” Then ask a variation: “Can you dance?” and the class answers: “Yes, I can.” while doing the action.
