Fun ESL [hide_on_uk]colors[/hide_on_uk][hide_on_us]colours[/hide_on_us] classroom activity
Try this gentle “[hide_on_uk]Color[/hide_on_uk][hide_on_us]Colour[/hide_on_us] touch” game to help young learners [hide_on_uk]recognize[/hide_on_uk][hide_on_us]recognise[/hide_on_us] and say [hide_on_uk]color[/hide_on_uk][hide_on_us]colour[/hide_on_us] words.
Have students stand or sit where they are. The teacher calls out a [hide_on_uk]color[/hide_on_uk][hide_on_us]colour[/hide_on_us], for example: “Touch something green!” Children look around and touch an object near them that matches the [hide_on_uk]color[/hide_on_uk][hide_on_us]colour[/hide_on_us] (their clothes, a pencil, a chair, the floor, etc.). Walk around and praise correct choices, repeating the [hide_on_uk]color[/hide_on_uk][hide_on_us]colour[/hide_on_us] word clearly. After a few rounds, let confident students take turns calling out the next [hide_on_uk]color[/hide_on_uk][hide_on_us]colour[/hide_on_us]. For extra practice, ask students to say the [hide_on_uk]color[/hide_on_uk][hide_on_us]colour[/hide_on_us] as they touch it: “Green!” / “It’s red!”
