Fun ESL [hide_on_uk]colors[/hide_on_uk][hide_on_us]colours[/hide_on_us] classroom activity
Try this lively “[hide_on_uk]Color[/hide_on_uk][hide_on_us]Colour[/hide_on_us] hold up” game to get students using [hide_on_uk]color[/hide_on_uk][hide_on_us]colour[/hide_on_us] words in a fun, active way.
Give each student one or two [hide_on_uk]colored[/hide_on_uk][hide_on_us]coloured[/hide_on_us] papers (origami paper works well). Have them all sit down. Then shout out a [hide_on_uk]color[/hide_on_uk][hide_on_us]colour[/hide_on_us] and an instruction, for example, “blue … jump!” and the students holding that [hide_on_uk]color[/hide_on_uk][hide_on_us]colour[/hide_on_us] must stand up and do the action. Other instructions: hop (3 times), turn around, run on the spot, star jump, hands up / down, etc.
