Fun ESL family classroom activity

Try this fun “Family portrait” game to get students talking about their family.

Give each student a sheet of paper with a photo frame printed on it. Tell everyone you will give them 3 minutes to draw their family photo, including themselves in the drawing. And importantly – they mustn’t show anyone their drawing. When students have finished, collect the drawings. Display one drawing and have the class to guess who’s family it is. Then ask that student a few questions, and also encourage their classmates to ask questions, such as, “How old is your sister?”, “What does your father do?”, “Is you mother a good cook?”, etc. Continue for all the family pictures.
