Fun ESL emotions classroom activity
Try this creative “Emotion Pictionary” game to help students [hide_on_uk]practice[/hide_on_uk][hide_on_us]practise[/hide_on_us] different feelings.
Invite 3 or 4 students to the board. Tell them they are ‘artists’ and give them an instruction to draw a picture with an emotion (e.g. “Draw an angry fish”). Give them 1 minute to draw their picture. Then have the rest of the class vote on the best drawing. Follow up by giving everyone 1 minute to write a sentence saying why the object in the drawing feels that way … and have students read their answers back to you (e.g. “The fish is angry because it can’t find any food). Then play again with a new group of ‘artists’. Other prompt ideas: “Draw a sad monster”, “Draw a happy gorilla”, ” Draw a sleepy hamster riding a bicycle”, etc.).
