Comparative adjectives
Using adjectives to compare things which are similar in other ways.
Examples:
- Cheetahs can run faster than leopards.
- Learning mathematics at school is more important than art.
This worksheet can be used within your regular lesson for teaching and [hide_on_uk]practicing[/hide_on_uk][hide_on_us]practising[/hide_on_us] specific grammar or vocabulary points. This is ideal if students are struggling with a specific point, or if you want to highlight a certain point within your lesson. It can also be used as a review, either in class or for homework.
The sheet should take approx. 10 minutes to complete.
How to use the worksheet in class
1. Download the PDF sheet and print enough copies for your students.
2. Go through the ‘Language key’ section as a class to introduce and teach the topic. Have students provide their own examples and write them on the board.
3. Have students, in pairs, complete the the first set of questions. Then check the answers as a class.
4. The next section requires students to write their own sentences using the grammar point, vocabulary or structure. Students do this individually. Set a time limit and monitor your students, helping with mistakes.
5. Check all the answers as a class. Finally, students work in pairs to test each other on their sentences.
