A night on the town

Level: Advanced (C1 – C2).

In this lesson students discuss eating out, plan a night out and describe a celebratory event. They also talk and read about how people socialize and some of the implications arising from this.

  • Plan a night out based on an assessment of the possibilities in a town or city you know well.
  • Describe a celebratory event using your reading of a text describing as a base for your description.
  • Read and talk about a rise in the range of choices available in the restaurant sector.
  • Explore vocabulary on the topic ‘risks’ and evaluate ways that risks associated with nightlife and younger people might be avoided.

Notes:

For this ESL teens course, use either the PDF mini-textbooks (print out copies for each student), or if you have a projector or large screen you can use PowerPoint lessons slides. In both cases, follow the lesson through as it appears in the materials.
