A little encouragement

Level: Advanced (C1 – C2).

In this lesson students read and talk about benefits and problems associated with sporting activities. They also explore how essay paragraphs on professional athletes can be constructed effectively.

  • Review vocabulary used to describe parts of the human body and different forms of exercise.
  • Read about and discuss major sporting events and what it takes to be a top performer.
  • Read part of a description of parental involvement in the fitness of children and discuss benefits and problems for children who are dedicated to sport.
  • Explore how to write effective and well-organized body paragraphs for essays.

Notes:

For this ESL teens course, use either the PDF mini-textbooks (print out copies for each student), or if you have a projector or large screen you can use PowerPoint lessons slides. In both cases, follow the lesson through as it appears in the materials.

The lesson is self-explanatory and doesn’t require any planning – just read through the lesson first to familiarize yourself with the lesson.
