Fun ESL Thanksgiving classroom activity

Try this simple “Thankful circle” activity to help students talk about things they are thankful for.

Have students sit or stand in a circle. Start by modelling a sentence: “I am thankful for my family”. Then pass a ball around the circle. When a student holds the ball, they say one thing they are thankful for, using a short sentence: “I am thankful for my friends”, “I am thankful for food”. Keep the language simple and write prompts on the board if needed (family, food, friends, school, teacher). For younger learners, single words are fine (e.g. “Family!”).
