Fun ESL shopping & money classroom activity

Try this simple stationery shopping role-play game to get students using shopping and money vocabulary.

Put students into pairs and have them set up a mini stationery [hide_on_uk]store[/hide_on_uk][hide_on_us]shop[/hide_on_us] with their own stationery labeled with prices (e.g., pen, pencil, stapler, etc.). Give students play money tell them they need to go shopping to buy their school stationery for the new school year! Have them roleplay the shopkeeper and the customer. The customer asks questions like, “How much is the pen?” or “Can I buy two pencils?” and the shopkeeper responds and gives change using the play money. After a few minutes, swap roles so everyone practices both asking and answering.
