Fun ESL numbers classroom activity
Try this simple “Number treasure hunt” to help students with number recognition and counting aloud.
Before class, hide number cards (or post-it notes with numbers 1–10) around the classroom – the more numbers, the better. Call out a number and have students hunt for the cards with that number. When a student finds one, they say the number aloud and keep it. Once all the numbers have been found play a number action game: say, “Students with a number 5, jump 5 times!” and the students jump 5 times, counting as they do. Go through all the numbers having students do the actions and counting (clap, star jump, hop, high-five, squat, turn around, etc.).
