Fun ESL family flashcard game

Try this “Tell me about your family” activity using your family flashcards.

Lay out the family cards on a table or board. Ask one student, “Who is this?” pointing to a card. The student says the family word (e.g. “brother”) – then ask, “Do you have a brother?” – if they do, ask some follow up questions: e.g. “What’s his name?”, “How old is he?”, “What does he like to do?” and the student replies in a simple sentence: “His name is Kazu, he’s 12 years old and he likes to play baseball”. After a few rounds, pair students and give each pair a set of family cards. They take turns asking and answering questions about their family members.
