Fun ESL sports classroom activity

Try this fast-paced “Sports Yes or No?” challenge to get students thinking, listening, and reacting quickly.

Have students stand up. Explain the rule: if the answer is YES, they jump once; if the answer is NO, they stay still. Ask quick sports questions, for example: “Can you play football with your hands?”, “Is tennis played with a ball?”, “Do you use a bat in baseball?”, “Is swimming a team sport?” Anyone with the incorrect answer sits down for one round, then rejoins. You can also encourage confident students ask the questions.
