Fun ESL animals classroom activity

Try this lively “Animal classifications game” to get students talking about different animal groups.

Divide the class into small teams and give each team a sheet of paper. On the board write four headings: Land animals, Insects, Birds, Sea life – each team copies the headings onto their sheet of paper. The teacher calls out an animal name (e.g., dolphin, eagle, ant, elephant) and teams write that animal under the correct heading. Continue for more animals. Finally, go through the answers – the team with the most correct classified animals is the winner!
